Mistake 1 – Getting a cheap inspection
Buying a home is probably the most expensive single purchase you’ll make in your lifetime. This is not the time to shop for a cheap inspection. The cost of a home inspection is very small relative to the home being purchased. Yes, you can save $50 by using a novice, but can their report save you thousands of dollars at the signing table? Do not let your realtor, a patty-cake inspector or anyone else talk you in to skimping here.
Mistake 2 – Random selection
If you found this website, chances are you were referred to it. My business was established via positive referrals. I work for and protect the interests of my clients. As a result, they speak highly of me to their friends or real estate agent. The people I work with trust my honest evaluation of a home and know that I am a professional and easy to work with. They understand that on occasion, it is in the home buyers best interest to withdraw a bid. Join a crew of satisfied customers, it is better than being a dissatisfied victim.
Mistake 3 – Thinking you can’t afford it.
If you can’t afford $350 for an inspection, you may want to open an “Unforeseen Home Repair Account” instead.
