About Chris

I am a professional home inspector and energy efficiency consultant.  My home inspection reports provide solutions to problems often found during an inspection.  My primary purpose is to be a helpful human being and I practice this pursuit in all it’s daily manifestations.  I believe in doing the right things for the right reasons.  I entered the residential construction industry in 1994 after graduating from Michigan State University.  During my career, I changed my philosophy from building new homes to identifying how to improve existing homes.  My professional focus includes “building science”, energy efficiency and perma-culture.

My personal pursuits include white water kayaking, traveling, drumming, rock climbing and jogging the path of spirituality.  I am the inventor of the cordless extension cord, patent pending.  In my personal time I pursue Creativity, Education, Awareness, Honesty, and Integrity.  I believe in the power of Love and I am in pursuit of  Truth and Happiness.

Chris doing an energy auditB.S. Building Construction Management, Michigan State University. Since graduating in 1996, I have supervised all phases of construction on hundreds of homes across the nation. The policies, procedures and training provided by my corporate employers nurtured my understanding of construction practices and principles. The end result is education and experience that I provide to personally serve and protect your best interests.

Resnet Nationally Certified Home Energy Rater. Raters are the energy efficiency experts that understand how a home performs as a system. This understanding is known as “building science”. Using specialized equipment and the laws of thermodynamics we expose the mysteries of a home’s “performance” and how to make it operate more efficiently. You deserve an inspector that can identify existing and potential problems and recommend cost effective solutions to address these potential problems.

Solar Living Institute, Hopland California. Dis-satisfied with the traditional American construction techniques, I left my corporate career and pursued an education in Perma-culture. As an intern for 5 months, I studied passive solar design, active solar technologies, sustainable and green construction materials and methods, organic farming, grey and green water systems, yoga and relaxation.

University of Life and Travel-  I enjoy traveling and am grateful for all of life’s experiences.  I was a student at the University of Zimbabwe in 1994, I have hiked 435 miles of the Appalachian Trail in flip flops, back packed in South East Asia, Southern Africa, India, South America and the USA.  I have been a drummer for 30 years, I love white water kayaking and the camping that comes with it.

Construction practices and standards are always evolving.  I stay ahead and stay informed in the industry.  I moved to Boise Idaho in 2003.  It is my home and the birth place of Professional Inspection Services and Affordable Energy Improvements.

I love my life and the career I have made out of it.  Thank you for your consideration.
